It’s that time of year we all begin thinking about planting our gardens and patio plants. I came across this tip and photo while visiting other posts and had to pass it along to my Perfekt Earth family as it just might work for you. I also added a few more great reasons to their list. So, here’s the idea, have you ever thought about planting raised garden boxes vs. planting rows at ground level? It can be a great idea for many reasons:
Raised beds are easier to keep free of encroaching grass than ground-level beds.
Some gardens face high water table levels and often risk flooding.
Elevated soil warms earlier in spring and drains more quickly after a rain.
Soil doesn’t become compacted, because you don’t step on the growing area.
Raised beds offer easier access for planting, thinning, weeding, and harvest.
If you have bad knees or even a bad back, raised gardening can make the process a bit less difficult.
Little ones and animals may be less likely to trample through your garden if it is at a higher level than the rest of the yard.
Just a few thoughts to consider. Notice this gardener was very creative and used several different materials they had to build their boxes. Happy Gardening.
